Askar Mamin: Main task at the moment is to complete mass vaccination

Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a selector meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Preventing the Spread of Coronavirus Infection in Kazakhstan.

Minister of Healthcare Aleksey Tsoy reported on the sanitary and epidemiological situation, Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov spoke on vaccine production, Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlan Turgumbayev reported on control over the observance of quarantine measures, Akims of Akmola region Ermek Marzhikpayev, Kostanay region — Archimed Mukhambetov, North Kazakhstan region — Kumar Aksakalov spoke about the situation in the regions.

The current sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan is tense — the republic has entered the "high risk zone", 8 regions are in the "red zone": the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, Akmola, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions. About 1.5 thousand new cases are registered every day, the reproductive rate is 1.14. The workload of infectious beds is 31%, of intensive care beds — 20%.

The domestic vaccine QazCovid-in is undergoing phase III clinical trials (preliminary efficiency — 96%). The quality certification of the Sputnik V vaccine is underway. Mass vaccination of the population with the Sputnik V vaccine is scheduled to begin on Feb. 1.

The head of government instructed the Ministry of Education and Science to ensure the release of a pilot batch of QazCovid-in vaccine on the basis of the Institute for Biological Safety Problems and an experimental industrial batch — at the production site of NCE Antigen LLP.

The prime minister instructed the akimats to complete the purchase of the necessary equipment for storing the vaccine and ensure the complete readiness of vaccination points by Feb. 1, 2020.

The Ministry of Information, together with the Ministry of Health, was instructed to provide information and explanatory work on vaccination against coronavirus infection, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs — to promptly suppress the facts of provocation and dissemination of inaccurate information on vaccination issues.

The head of government emphasized the need for special control over the safety of workers involved in anti-epidemic measures.

“Provision of vaccine production and mass vaccination of the population are the main tasks of the government in the field of healthcare today,” Mamin said.
