Askar Mamin participates in opening of Independence Monument and solemn meeting in East Kazakhstan region

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin made a working trip to the East Kazakhstan region, where he took part in the opening of the Independence Monument and a solemn meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan.

“The Independence Monument reflects many epochal events in the history of our country and the stages of its formation, symbolizes the indivisibility and inviolability of our state,” Mamin said, speaking at the opening of the Independence Monument.

The height of the monument is 15.7 m, diameter — 10.9 m. At the top there are sculptures of the founders of the Kazakh Khanate — Kerey and Zhanibek, in the lower part — a bas-relief with the history of the development of Kazakhstan.

In the central part of the monument there are sculptures of three supreme biys — Tole-bi, Kazybek-bi and Aiteke-bi, as well as a quote of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in three languages: “The greatest goal, the most sacred duty of everyone who perceives Kazakhstan their Motherland — to hold tightly the banner of Independence.”

The opening ceremony of the Independence Monument was also attended by the akim of the East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the State University named after Shakarim Arap Espenbetov, writer Alibek Kantarbayev and Olympic athletics champion Olga Rypakova, representatives of the region's public.

In his speech at the solemn event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mamin noted that the East Kazakhstan region has a high industrial and agricultural potential, makes a great contribution to the socio-economic development of the entire country.

Since 1991, the gross regional product has grown 25 times. The region produces about 10% of industrial products of the entire country, more than 11% of all processed products of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The region is a powerful industrial center, occupying a leading position in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The industrialization program made it possible to organize in the region the production of dozens of new types of products with high added value that had not been produced before.

The most important sector of the region's economy is the agro-industrial complex, which contributes to ensuring the country's food security.

The transport and engineering infrastructure is being actively modernized, kindergartens, schools, medical and sports facilities are being built. Over the years of Independence, more than 8 million square meters of housing have been built.

As part of the development of the region's potential until 2025, it is planned to implement about 200 significant investment projects totaling 4.5 trillion tenge in such promising industries as metallurgy, chemical industry, agro-industrial complex, energy, renewable energy, construction.

The akim of the East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov also spoke at the solemn meeting.

In accordance with the Decree of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Prime Minister Askar Mamin presented state awards to the heads and workers of agricultural and industrial enterprises, employees of the spheres of education, healthcare and sports of the East Kazakhstan region on the occasion of Independence Day.

Gennady Pussep, Chairman of the Council of Public Accord of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan of the East Kazakhstan Region, was awarded the Order Dostyk, II degree.

Qurmet Order was presented to Executive Commerce Director of KazZink LLP Igor Radovich, Chair of the Board of Ulba Metallurgical Plant Sergey Bezhetsky, President of Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Combine Asem Mamutova, teacher of Lyceum No.44 named after Oralkhan Bokey Bagzhamal Sadykova.

Omirtai Asipov, tractor driver of Ture-Tokam LLP, and Lyudmila Grechukhina, a galvanist of the precious metals section of the Republican State Enterprise “Kazakhstan Mint of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, were awarded the Order of Enbek Danqy, III degree.

Aidar Kairbayev, a trainer-teacher of the East Kazakhstan regional school of higher sportsmanship in mass sports, was awarded the medal Yeren Enbegi Ushin.

Vera Sheplyakova, head nurse of the Shemonaikha district hospital, was awarded the Shapagat medal, Alibek Bakhtiyarov, the head of the Algul farm, was awarded a Certificate of Honor of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
