Alikhan Smailov hosts Digitalisation Commission meeting

Plans to improve the Internet quality, development of communication infrastructure and new digital products were discussed at the Digitalization Commission under the President, chaired by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov.

Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Bagdat Mussin spoke about the progress of the Affordable Internet National Project 2023-2027, which includes a large-scale work on connecting cities and villages to high-speed Internet, pulling / laying / installation of fiber-optic lines along the national and major regional roads, as well as the introduction of 5G networks.

The Minister also reported on digitization of data of government agencies within the frames of instruction of the Head of State on debureaucratization of state machinery and introduction of digital statistical registers, which will enable to improve accuracy of state statistics and provision of state services. 

Alikhan Smailov ordered to complete The Affordable Internet National Project within a month, and agree it with other government agencies, and emphasized the need to provide 100% protection of information in the modernization of databases.

In addition, the participants of the meeting considered the issue of introduction of VET-Mobile mobile application allowing to register livestock and make an annual inventory of veterinary prophylactic measures. Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev said that the application will help greatly facilitate the work of veterinarians and is able to function without the internet, which is especially important in remote communities.

The participants also discussed a proposal to use urban communication infrastructure (billboards, lampposts) to develop a dual-purpose support system. The construction of these smart pillars will contribute to improving the quality of internet and communication in densely populated urban areas.
