Implementation of the Nation's Plan made it possible to significantly reduce the "prison population" in Kazakhstan

During a press conference in the press center of the Government, the Head of the Department for Ensuring the Operation of Courts at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurserik Sharipov spoke about the implementation of the "Ensuring the Rule of Law" direction of the Nation’s Plan "100 Concrete Steps".

Nurserik Sharipov said that the transition to a three-tier justice system strengthened the role of each instance and accelerated the final entry into force of the court decision. At the same time, the total time for civil cases in courts was halved, 83.5% of cases were completed in the first court session.

According to the provided information, the number of cases of writ proceedings increased by a quarter, by one third - ended with the use of alternative methods of resolving the dispute, 1.6 times with mediation. 62.5% of cases are considered in the simplified procedure, without calling the parties to court.

"In criminal proceedings, the number of cases considered in conciliation proceedings increased by 43%, in 3,5 times - in the abbreviated order. One and a half times more cases are completed with the use of mediation. By 28% - the number of criminal cases examined with the participation of jurors increased. The number of "prison population" has been significantly reduced," said Nurserik Sharipov.

Also, according to him, measures to expand judicial control give positive results, the institute of investigative judges shows high efficiency, and the number of materials examined by investigating judges, including authorization, increased by 9.3%.
