No unproductive intermediaries: Kazakhstan to develop new coal supply mechanism for citizens

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting on topical issues of mining and metallurgical companies.

The participants discussed plans to launch new investment projects of Eurasian Group LLP  in the gas industry in Kazakhstan, as well as projects for the development of railway infrastructure.

In addition, the meeting addressed the issues of coal supply in the domestic market, especially in remote communities.

The Prime Minister noted the need to analyze the activities of regional operators for the distribution of coal and to develop a new mechanism for supply of fuel for social facilities and the population directly from the extraction sites, bypassing unproductive intermediaries.

The establishment of a joint venture between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan investors to transport cargo via railways of both countries was also discussed.

The meeting was attended by heads of the ministries of finance, energy, industry and infrastructure development, the national companies Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and QazaqGaz, the company ERG.
