Kazakhstan to tighten control over illegal exports of fuel and lubricants

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting on the domestic market of fuels and lubricants on Friday, Jan. 20.

The participants in the discussion were Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov, Chairmen of the boards of the Samruk Kazyna Fund Almasadam Satkaliyev and NC KazMunayGas JSC Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee and Director of the Border Service Yerlan Aldazhumanov and others.

The participants reviewed the current situation on the fuel and lubricant market and the effectiveness of the existing regulatory mechanisms. It was noted that attempts to illegally export diesel fuel and gasoline under the guise of other oil products (fuel oil, heating oil, solvents, etc.) are registered at the border.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Energy in conjunction with the state authorities concerned to take firm measures to step up controls and to prevent the illegal export of fuel from the country, especially during the spring field works.

A number of other topical issues of the oil and gas sector were also discussed at the meeting.
