Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Zhang Gaoli

A meeting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev with First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Zhang Gaoli took place at the Government House today.

During the meeting, issues of interaction between the two countries in trade and economic, scientific, technical, financial, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, in the field of transit-transport and infrastructural interaction including planning of large joint projects and development of long-term programs were discussed.

At present, Kazakhstan and China are actively implementing the Cooperation Plan on conjugation of the Kazakhstan National Economic Program "Nurly Zhol" and the Chinese initiative "Economic belt of the Silk Road". The plan was signed on September 2, 2016 in Hangzhou following the results of negotiations between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in the field of agriculture, the promotion of the export of products of Kazakh agrarians to Chinese markets. The issues of water relations, use and protection of transboundary rivers are also considered.

In 2016, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the PRC amounted to 7.9 billion dollars, exports from Kazakhstan to China amounted to 4.2 billion dollars, imports - 3.7 billion dollars.

Export of Kazakhstan to China in physical terms increased by 20.4% excluding oil and uranium.

China is one of the main investment partners of Kazakhstan. For the period from 2005 to February 1, 2017, the inflow of direct investment from China into the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 13.9 billion dollars. Investments from Kazakhstan to China for the same period amounted to 519.7 million dollars.

As of February 1, 2017, 2,783 enterprises with the participation of Chinese capital were registered in Kazakhstan.

The PRC one of the first countries confirmed its participation in EXPO-2017 in Astana and the Chinese pavilion will become one of the largest at the exhibition. In addition, the year 2017 is declared the "Year of China Tourism in Kazakhstan" and our country expects a large influx of tourists from China.
