Government considers the issue of coronavirus infection and measures to protect citizens of Kazakhstan

At the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan were considered.

Minister of Healthcare Yelzhan Birtanov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi reported on the current situation and ongoing work.

In Kazakhstan, no cases of coronavirus infection have been reported. In the Republic of Kazakhstan 134 people with fever and symptoms of acute respiratory infection were hospitalized, 106 of them were discharged with recovery, 28 remain in hospitals. The patients are in satisfactory condition.

Medical organizations continue to monitor the health of citizens arriving from China at their place of residence, 24,167 people are covered, including 1,298 foreign citizens. Today, 8,851 people who arrived from China over the past 14 days remain under medical supervision, the monitoring of the remaining 15,316 has finished due to the end of the incubation period.

On the basis of the Central Reference Laboratory, the National Center for Highly Infectious Diseases together with the National Center for Biotechnology has developed a system to quickly diagnose coronavirus. In the framework of international cooperation, diagnostic systems for 2,000 examinations were obtained from Rospotrebnadzor and for 5,000 examinations were purchased from China.

Currently, 497 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan are on the territory of the PRC, of ​​which 337 are students. From Feb. 10 to Feb. 11, 2020, 217 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan by charter plane of Air Astana Airlines were delivered from Beijing to Nur-Sultan. On Feb. 12, 2020, it is planned to send 155 citizens of the Republic of China on a similar flight. Upon completion of the evacuation, 343 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan will remain in the PRC who have expressed a desire to stay in China.

The prime minister emphasized that in accordance with the order of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Government is taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan.

“To date, there are no patients with coronavirus in Kazakhstan. The situation is stable and is constantly monitored by the Government,” said Mamin.

The head of government instructed the Ministry of Healthcare to continue the implementation of sanitary and epidemiological control, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to maintain close contact with the Kazakhstanis in the PRC and provide the assistance they need.

The prime minister drew the attention of the antimonopoly authorities and the Ministry of Healthcare to certain facts of artificially inflating prices for medical masks and antiviral drugs in pharmacy chains.

“Deal with this. In general, the Ministry of Healthcare and regional akims should keep the situation under constant control,” summarized Mamin.
