The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held meetings with Advisor to the President Suma Chakrabarti and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Ariqi.

During the discussion of the Action Program of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022 with Suma Chakrabarti, it was noted that the proposed reforms are the basis of the new economic policy of Kazakhstan.

The developed set of measures will be implemented in 3 key areas of the roadmap — improving the strategy and programs of economic reforms, public administration, communications and brand.

At the same time, the topic of developing a plan for territorial development until 2025, which includes three principles of territorial and spatial development, was touched upon.

“In order to increase the coverage of business entities with state support measures, regional development programs will be introduced. The government will develop an effective mechanism for financing export-oriented and import-substituting projects in the manufacturing industry,” said Alikhan Smailov.

During the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Ariqi, the implementation of bilateral agreements and the issue of attracting investments were discussed.

Trade turnover for 2021 between the countries amounted to $709 million. At the end of 2020, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $474.4 million.

“We are aimed at further intensifying our interaction with the UAE by increasing investments in the economy of Kazakhstan. It is important for us to continue the active interaction of the Astana International Financial Center with major UAE financial institutions, including the Abu Dhabi Global Market Financial Center,” Smailov emphasized during the negotiations.

In conclusion, the parties exchanged views on the upcoming work and noted the importance of fulfilling the items on the agenda of the meeting.
