70% of employees of state organizations in the capital and Almaty switched to remote work

At the online briefing in the Government of Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov told how organizations should work in emergency mode.

Previously, employers were recommended to go to a remote mode of operation for the period of quarantine in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. As noted by the deputy prime minister, up to 70% of employees of state organizations in the capital and Almaty switched to remote work. According to article 112 of the Labor Code, employees must be paid monthly wages or a minimum wage during remote work.

For reference: Article 112. Payment for downtime

1. The procedure for registration of downtime and terms of payment for downtime for reasons beyond the control of the employer and employee are determined by labor and collective agreements and are set at no less than the minimum wage, due to the fault of the employer – at least fifty percent of the average wage employee.

2. Downtime allowed due to the fault of the employee is not payable.

Yeraly Tugzhanov also told how trade facilities should work during the state of emergency in Kazakhstan due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The following are recommended for large shopping facilities in all cities, in addition to the capital and Almaty:

  • Allow visitors only in masks;
  • In the absence of masks provide visitors with a free issue of masks;
  • Distribute coronavirus prevention leaflets to all visitors;
  • To establish restrictions on the functioning of large trade objects from 10 hours to 18 hours with the strengthening of sanitary security measures.

On the territory of shopping facilities cinemas, children's centers, any other entertainment venues should be closed. At the same time, pharmacies, shops, boutiques will operate, but with strict sanitation and safety measures.

  • Establish a restriction on the work of non-food markets from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the strengthening of sanitary and disinfection measures.
