Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov instructs to take decisive action against grey mining

The Ministry of Energy reported on the measures taken to prevent restrictions on the supply of electricity for the population and the industrial sector, as well as restrictions on electrical power for digital miners.

Currently, in the regions of the country, control activities are being carried out by mobile groups formed from among the employees of the Ministry of Energy and law enforcement agencies.

Based on the results of operational search activities carried out from Feb. 18 to 20, 34 illegally operating objects were stopped in the West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Pavlodar, East Kazakhstan regions. The total volume of limited electrical capacity amounted to 202 MW.

At the same time, it should be noted that illegal digital mining activities are carried out in every region of the republic, and work to identify them continues. Investigative measures are being taken against the identified subjects.

Earlier, the System Operator (KEGOC JSC) introduced 380 MW electric power limits for digital miners.

“It is necessary to intensify work to identify and disconnect illegal digital mining activities from electricity. Also, the Financial Monitoring Agency, together with the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance and the ICRIAP, needs to work out the issue of assessing damage from illegal miners,” Smailov said.

The Prime Minister instructed to intensify work to take decisive action against illegal subjects of digital mining.
