CVI incidence in Kazakhstan decreased by 31% over past two weeks — Alexey Tsoy

At the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the issue of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country was considered. Minister of Healthcare Alexey Tsoy reported on the latest data on the incidence of CVI and vaccination.

As the minister reported, more than 270 million cases of CVI have been registered in the world today. More than 400 thousand cases are registered per day. More than 5 million people have died.

According to the WHO European Region, 19 out of 54 countries have seen an increase in incidence over the past two weeks. Over the past 14 days, the largest increase in incidence has been observed in France, where the incidence has increased by more than 100%, in Portugal — 50%, Sweden — 60%, Italy — 50%.

“In Kazakhstan, the incidence rate has decreased by 31% over the past two weeks,” Tsoy reported.

Per 1 million of the population, as the minister further noted, Kazakhstan is in 110th place in terms of morbidity, 102 in mortality out of 222 countries.

In the republic, 980,372 cases of coronavirus infection with a positive PCR test and 83,437 cases with a negative PCR test were registered, more than 96% of patients recovered.

"The reproductive number is 0.89 and compared with August, there is a decrease in 1.2 times," said Tsoy.

In general, in Kazakhstan over the past month, according to the minister, the incidence rate decreased by 3.1 times, the number of inpatients and outpatients — by 1.7 times. The occupancy rate of infectious beds is 23%, intensive care beds — 20%.

Vaccination of the population against CVI continues.

“1-component vaccinated more than 8.8 million people, coverage of the adult population was about 78%. More than 8.3 million people were vaccinated with the second component, covering about 73% of the adult population,” Tsoy reported.

The Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine, he said, has so far been received by 188,906 people with the first component, including 150,669 adolescents and 38,237 pregnant and lactating women. The second component was received by 19,386 people.

Vaccination continues. 136 thousand citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan received revaccination.

“In general, an optimistic scenario for the incidence of CVI is being realized,” Tsoy summed up.
