Today, as part of the working trip to Almaty, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev visited the public reception office OpenAlmaty, which provides comprehensive support to the population and got acquainted with the results of reconstruction of city streets, as well as with plans to modernize the transport system in Almaty.

During a visit to the public reception of OpenAlmaty, Bakytzhan Sagintayev examined the co-working center SmArt.Point, and also got acquainted with the work of the information portal and call center.

Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC “Almaty Development Center” R. Assaubayev reported to the Prime Minister on the activities of OpenAlmaty, spoke about the services rendered here, involved state bodies and projects implemented at the site of the co-working center SmArt.Point.

It is worth noting that the new service OpenAlmaty has united all city services for solving vital situations of the population and providing state services to the citizens. The portal offers useful information to residents: algorithms for solving various situations, work plans of city services and contacts of utilities in Almaty.

After that, the Prime Minister visited the streets of Panfilov and Zhibek Zholy, which had been reconstructed according to the Danish architect Jan Gehl’s project.

Deputy akim of Almaty S. Makezhanov reported on the works carried out – renovation of building facades within the framework of a single architectural style and planting of tall trees. In addition, there sports and play grounds emerged here, as well as an effective water disposal system.

Note that this reconstruction is part of a large project to create pedestrian streets, initiated this summer by Almaty akimat. According to the plan, Arbat (Zhibek Zholy from Kunaev to Zheltoksan), a piece of Panfilov street and Astana square will be full-pedestrian. The streets of Gogol and Kabanbai batyr will become half-pedestrian.

Then B. Sagintayev examined new cars and special equipment of Almaty akimat. Deputy akim M. Daribayev reported on a comprehensive plan for the organization of traffic, the work of the automated payment system "Onai", as well as the city's anti-crisis program.

As reported to the Prime Minister, this year, 146 km of road surface will be repaired and 97 thousand m² of pavements will be built, 14,7 km will be constructed and 42,2 km of irrigation networks will be reconstructed in 57 streets and more than 32 km of heating networks. At the same time, more than 380 km of plumbing and sewerage are being laid with the connection of more than 20 thousand houses in the micro districts “Aigerim”, "Ulzhan-1, -2", "Karasu", "Akbulak", "Darkhan", "Kurylyshy" "Uzhet", "Trudovik", "Shanyrak-1, -2", "Altyn bessik", "Dostyk" and others.

For reference: Jan Gehl is known as the largest researcher of urban public space, the psychological aspects of its use by people, optimal solutions through architecture and urban planning of typical problems of this sphere.

The architect studied the features of Almaty and developed key recommendations on how to make the metropolis comfortable for Almaty residents and tourists. So, in eight districts of the city in 2015, a pilot project has been launched to create pedestrian zones, recreation areas, sports and children's playgrounds. Also, the city's network of bicycle paths has been significantly expanded.
