Yuri Ilyin

 

Yuri Ilyin was born in 1968 in the city of Kuibyshev, RSFSR.

In 1989, he graduated from the Alma-Ata Higher Combined Arms Command School named after Konev, specializing in the operation of tracked and wheeled vehicles, in 2006 — from Kyrgyz State Law Academy, specializing in law.

Over the years, he was a commander of motorized rifle platoons of the 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Moscow Military District, a teacher, deputy head of the Civil Defense of the Sumy region of Ukraine.

In 1996-1998, he was senior officer of the training center of the Almaty Regional Department for Emergency Situations.

In 1998-2005, he was head of department, deputy head of the Almaty City Department for Emergency Situations.

In 2005-2011, he was deputy head of the Department for Emergency Situations in Almaty.

In 2011-2013, he was acting head, head of the Department for Mobilization Training, Civil Defense, Organization of Prevention and Elimination of Accidents and Natural Disasters in Almaty.

In 2013-2015, he was deputy akim of Almaty.

In 2015-2016, he was State Inspector of the Department of State Control and Organizational and Territorial Work of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From April 2016, he has been vice minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On Sep. 11, 2020, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he was appointed minister of emergency situations.

On Jan. 18, 2021, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he was reappointed as minister of emergency situations.
