Askar Zhumagaliyev

Askar Zhumagaliyev was born in 1972 in the Orenburg region of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic.

He graduated from the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School.

Then he graduated from the Kazakh National Technical University (Alma-Ata) with a major in Radio Communication, Broadcasting and Television.

He received a second degree in law in the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University.

He received his Master's degree in electronic management from the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne.

In 1996-1998 he held the post of general director of Zharyk LLP.

In 1998-1999 he worked as the head of the Sector of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

In 1999-2000 he was a chief specialist, head of the Transport Control Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

In 2000 he was head of the RSE Republican Center for Billing of Telecommunication Traffic.

In 2001-2003 he was head of the State Communications Supervision Department, deputy chairman of the Committee for Communications and Informatization.

In 2003-2005 he was deputy chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Informatization and Communication.

In 2004-2005 he was an acting chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Informatization and Communication.

In 2005-2006 he was first deputy chairman of the Agency for Informatization and Communication.

In 2006 he became chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Informatization and Communications.

In 2006-2010 he was president of Kazakhtelecom JSC.

In 2010-2012 he was minister for communications and information.

In 2012-2014 he was minister of transport and communications.

In 2014 he was chairman of the Agency for Communications and Information.

In 2014-2015 he was vice minister for investments and development.

From 2015 to 2017 he was chairman of the Board of JS Kazatomprom NAC.

On Aug. 29, 2017, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On Dec. 26, 2018, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry.

On Feb. 25, 2019, by the Decree of the President, was appointed Minister of Digital Development, Defense and Aerospace Industry.
