For this year it is forecasted that the spread of harmful and highly dangerous pests and quarantine objects will take place on an area of 5.1 million hectares, including herd locust pests of 1.92 million hectares, cereal diseases 2.4 million hectares, non-stagnant locusts 444 thousand hectares.
"3.57 billion tenge was allocated from the republican budget for protective measures. Tenders on the procurement of pesticides have been completed. Against herd locusts, 540 units of spraying equipment will be applied. The suppliers for chemical treatment against locust pests in South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl regions have been identified, competitive procedures are continuing in other regions," A. Yevniev reported.
According to forecasts, the peak of the locust in the South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl regions is expected in 2018. In this connection, in these regions it is planned to process 639.6 thousand hectares.
"We recommend that the provinces urgently form operational headquarters. Particular attention should be paid to non-native locusts. This year, 718.3 million tons were allocated for processing on an area of 408.4 thousand hectares," First Vice Minister of Agriculture said.
In addition, in order to timely stop the flight of herding locust species from the border areas of the PRC, Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, MA RK concluded agreements on mutual cooperation to combat locusts and other agricultural pests and diseases.
There is a general decrease in areas contaminated by quarantine facilities, from 248.54 thousand hectares in 2015 to 123.63 thousand hectares in 2018, with the exception of the burn of fruit trees (150.3 ha increase in foci).
As noted by Arman Yevniev, there are 14 types of quarantine objects in the country, quarantine has been imposed on all infected centers.
In the field of plant quarantine, this year the spread of quarantine objects on the area is forecasted — 123.63 thousand hectares. In order to prevent the introduction of quarantine objects and alien species from other countries, quarantine phytosanitary control of imported and transit quarantine products is carried out.
Work is under way to simplify the access of Kazakhstani crop products to world markets.
As for veterinary safety, according to Arman Yevniev, for the first time the plan of veterinary and preventive measures was approved in October 2017, which allowed the timely purchase of services for the transportation of veterinary drugs to the districts. Also for the first time the republican stock of veterinary preparations for the first half of 2018 was formed and the security was 100%.
The control over visits of the Committee specialists to the regions is organized, with daily monitoring of vaccination volume for highly dangerous animal diseases. As of April 2, 2018, 90% were vaccinated against foot and mouth disease, 82.2% against anthrax, 85.4% against nodular dermatitis.
"According to the preliminary conclusion of international experts, the actions of the veterinary service for the localization of the infection were assessed positively, which contributes to an increase in the possibility of export of animals and livestock products," said Arman Yevniev.
Work has been intensified with China on the export of livestock products. Also an agreement was reached on the export of live sheep and frozen mutton to Iran. With the countries of the UAE, a veterinary certificate for mutton, beef, cattle and small ruminants has been agreed.
