Nursultan Nazarbayev holds a meeting on development of Astana

The Head of State was briefed on fulfilling the earlier tasks and future plans for the development of the capital city. This was reported by the press service of Akorda.

The meeting was attended by Alibek Dzhaksybekov, head of the Presidential Administration, Asset Issekeshev, mayor of Astana, Sergey Horoshun, first deputy akim of Astana and Bahtybai Taitaliev, head of the city department of architecture, town-planning and land relations.

Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out that in the process of city development it is important to take into account the possibilities of the current infrastructure and existing communications.

Asset Issekeshev informed the President of Kazakhstan about the five-year plan for the capital city’s development and prospects for constructing new facilities.

"There is a plan for five development zones. Until 2023, 9.5 million square meters of housing will be built; that is 156,000 apartments for 500,000 people. And until 2027 — 16 million square meters for 800 thousand people. Thus, according to your instructions, 2 million people will be able to live in the city," the akim of Astana reported.

Following the meeting, the Head of State has given a number of specific instructions on the further development of Astana.
