Representatives of leading national centers for studying economic development trends, such as the Economic Research Institute, the Kazakhstan Strategic Research Institute, the Institute of Eurasian Integration, took part in the discussion of the expert club.
The main speaker was the partner of GVA Kazakhstan, Bulat Stolyarov.
According to the speaker, this year the Forum will be 3 days long. The third day will be fully dedicated to discussing and adapting the ideas and solutions considered in the first days of the forum to the Kazakhstan agenda. The program of the forum is up-to-date, it is available on the official website. About 500 guests and speakers are expected, their level and status correspond to the high level set by the agenda of the Forum.
As B. Stolyarov noted, the Third Modernization announced by the President of Kazakhstan was adopted as a basis for the work of the Government to build a new model of economic growth and enhance the country's global competitiveness. This is a very large and vital task for Kazakhstan. However, these goals can not be achieved outside the world agenda. Therefore, the opinions of experts with worldwide names who will attend the AEF and make their recommendations is so important.
"The Global Challenges Summit will start exactly two weeks later in Astana and we call it a meeting place with the stars of the global intellectual scene, the stars of global megatrends, which we will analyze," said Bulat Stolyarov.
Bulat Stolyarov answered the question of the host about the specific strategic and national interests of the Astana Economic Forum for Kazakhstan.
"We will have a lot of memoranda and contracts of high interstate status. But we agreed that this is not the main product or the main benefit. The benefit lies in the fact that Kazakhstan, which until 2050 plans to transform from the world’s “top 50” economy to the "top 30" economy, will have to make this maneuver in the most complicated landscape of global changes. It means that this landscape is like a good pilot who must be seen. It must be seen by all experts, all businesses, the whole nation. We should be in a dense intellectual and informational interaction with the best minds on the main trends of global change. From this, in addition to increased understanding, reforms of a different quality, and deals, projects, economic clusters of a different scale will emerge. I believe that we are aiming to get there," the expert said.
He also talked about the expected effect of the AEF.
"This forum will be successful when it gives a really appreciable number of high quality ideas and projects that Kazakhstan will take in the development and refinement of the already huge reform agenda that exists in the country. I think our main metric is this: will this forum become a catalyst for new transformations that will occur through these global challenges," Bulat Stolyarov said.
