Today in Astana Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the President of the Republic of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis.

During the meeting, issues of further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in the fields of light and food industry, agriculture, tourism, as well as education, training of civil aviation personnel and medical tourism were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to issues of interaction in the transit and transport sector and the development of small and medium-sized businesses.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Latvia in 2016 amounted to 126.2 million dollars (93.5 million dollars of exports, 32.7 million dollars of imports).

For January-April 2017: $31.8 million ($25.3 million of exports, $6.5 million of imports). Today there are over 60 Kazakh-Latvian joint ventures in Kazakhstan.
