Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed to take timely measures to introduce state regulation of drug prices

At the meeting of the Government chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the issues of state regulation of prices for medicinal products were considered.

The Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yelzhan Birtanov reported that in accordance with the order of the Head of State, state regulation of prices for medicines will be introduced by the end of the year. To this end, a plan has been developed for the implementation of the national drug policy, which envisages the introduction of effective measures to improve the drug provision of the population.

The Ministry drafted the rules, according to which the whole process of pricing, from the manufacturer to the warehouses of the supplier in Kazakhstan, will be registered. After that the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan will approve the maximum wholesale and retail price of medicines.

The concept of the bill on the National Drug Policy is aimed at public discussion with the pharmaceutical and medical community.

During the meeting on the discussed issue, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the NCE Atameken N. Altayev made a speech.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in conjunction with the Atameken NCE  and the pharmaceutical community, to work out in detail the regulatory issues and the mechanisms for setting prices for medicines.
