The President of Kazakhstan has arrived in Tashkent. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met Nursultan Nazarbayev at the airport of the capital city. This was reported by the press service of Akorda.

Bilateral meetings are scheduled during the visit. As part of the talks, the leaders will discuss key aspects of the regional agenda and issues of expanding the Kazakh-Uzbek relations.

During the state visit Nursultan Nazarbayev with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid flowers to the Monument of "Independence and Humanism", which is the national symbol of Uzbekistan’s nation, visited the architectural complex "Tole Biy Mausoleum", the industrial exhibition named "Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan: New Stage of Cooperation", where he got acquainted with the products of Kazakhstan’s producers.

Also, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a briefing for the media, during which the two leaders announced the beginning of a new stage of relations between the fraternal states.

Later the Head of the State took part in the ceremony of laying a basket of flowers at the monument to Islam Karimov.

The Monument to the first President of Uzbekistan was erected in Tashkent in front of Aksaray Residence and was opened on August 31, 2017.
