President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev holds negotiations with the Leader of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

After the solemn ceremony of the meeting at the residence of the President of Uzbekistan, the two leaders have had talks with restricted attendance and in the extended format. This was reported by the press service of Akorda.

Opening the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev cordially greeted the President of Kazakhstan on the Uzbek land and via Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed deep respect to the whole nation of Kazakhstan.

"This year concerning the two countries’ relations can be rightly considered historical. Between the two countries there is a serious breakthrough in all economic spheres. This is our sixth meeting, which is a testimony of friendly intentions between the two brotherly countries," the President of Uzbekistan said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Kazakhstan’s holding the international exhibition Expo-2017 and the first OIC Summit on Science and Technology at the highest level have become possible due to Nursultan Nazarbayev’s great authority.

In turn, the President of Kazakhstan thanked the Uzbek leader for the invitation and warm welcome, noting the progressive development of bilateral relations, as well as the great potential for their further expansion.

"You have done a lot for the successful development of bilateral relations in a short period of time. Thanks to our meetings, we have managed to solve a lot of problematic issues. We have much in common: language, culture, religion, and therefore we have no other way but close cooperation. For effective coordination, specific actions and practical mutual support are needed," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The Head of our State specially focused on the special role of Uzbekistan in the region and stressed the merits of Shavkat Mirziyoyev in boosting business cooperation between the two countries.

"You've done a tremendous job during the year of the presidency. The decision you have made on the issues of currency regulation, the border opening, creation of conditions for business development can be called fully historical. Our business relations should be based on mutually beneficial terms," the President of Kazakhstan concluded.

The matters of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in trade-economic, investment, agricultural, transit-transport, military-industrial and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed during the talks.
