President of Kazakhstan participates in the informal summit of CIS leaders

The event was also attended by Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan, President of Armenia, Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President of Kyrgyzstan, Igor Dodon, President of Moldova, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the heads of state summed up the results of the Russian Federation's presidency in the CIS in 2017.

Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the successful completion of the CIS presidency and stressed the importance of the work carried out by the Russian Federation to promote integration in the Eurasian space and to strengthen the international authority of the Commonwealth.

The Kazakh leader has reminded of the CSTO Summit held in Minsk in November, where the most topical issues of the regional and international agenda were taken into consideration.

"There are no problems that we could not solve in a negotiated manner. We need to work further based on the principles of sovereignty and mutual respect," the President of Kazakhstan said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev wished Vladimir Putin successes in the forthcoming presidential elections in the Russian Federation and expressed his confidence that the multinational people of Russia would make the right choice.

In conclusion, the sides exchanged views on further development of interstate cooperation in various fields and wished success to the Republic of Tajikistan as CIS Chair the following year.
