Reserve of 68 forensic experts created in Kazakhstan to investigate pogroms and cases of looting

Thirty-three forensic experts work in Almaty as part of an investigation of pogroms and looting during the January events, the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan reported.

The examination is carried out by 19 local and 14 seconded specialists from other regions. Thus, the workload on forensic experts is within the normal range, there are no delays.

In general, expertise is carried out in Almaty in 5 areas: construction, merchandising, fire-technical, ballistic and economic.

On behalf of the Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, for the purpose of prompt investigation, the Ministry of Justice additionally created a reserve of 68 forensic experts, most of whom specialize in economic expertise.

From Jan. 31, 2021, part of the specialists from the reserve will be sent to the region. The rest will be involved in the work as the appointment of a forensic examination by the relevant authorities.

The press service of the Government noted that similar expert work is being carried out in Shymkent and in Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, Almaty, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan regions.
