Burden on students to be reduced — Sh. Karinova

Today at a briefing in the press center of the Government, the director of the Department of Preschool and Secondary Education of the MES RK, Sholpan Karinova, commented on the issue of reducing the burden on students.

In his annual Address to the people of Kazakhstan, "New Opportunities for Development in the Conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution," President N. Nazarbayev drew attention to the fact that the burden on students in Kazakhstan is the highest among the CIS countries and on average is more than a third higher than in the OECD countries. The Head of State instructed to reduce it.

As Sholpan Karinova noted during the briefing, the MES RK is systematically and purposefully working to reduce the burden on students. In April 2017, the order "On Regulation of Homework" was adopted. As a result, to date, ⅓ home assignments for children have been reduced.

At the same time, Sh. Karinova stressed that the order reflects specific norms in the context of all levels of education and for each subject. The academic load, which is set on the house, should not exceed 150 minutes.

Work to reduce the burden on students as a whole continues. To date, this issue is widely discussed with the pedagogical community. Sanitary requirements included norms allowing to fit into five working days. Now the ministry has a working group to reduce the burden on a student per week.

"The results of the work will be brought to the regions and appropriate regulatory documents will be adopted," Sholpan Karinova said in conclusion.
