Prime Minister Askar Mamin holds a meeting on preparations for spring sowing

Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture on progress in preparing for spring sowing work. Heads of state bodies, akims of 14 regions, agricultural producers and representatives of industrial associations and unions took part in the meeting.

Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov reported on the work being carried out to ensure the timely sowing and the planned area coverage. In 2019 the crops area is 22.3 million hectares, which is 1.3% more than in 2018. There are 147 thousand tractors, 79.4 thousand seeders, 249 thousand tillage tools.

The Vice Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov, in turn, reported on the provision of farmers with the necessary amount of fuel. Thus, the price from refineries is set at 160 tenge / liter (193 thousand tenge / ton), taking into account the delivery, the average price in the regions will be 174 tenge / liter, which is 15-20 tenge cheaper than the market price.

In the selector mode, akims of 10 regions, including the main grain-sowing regions of the country — Akmola, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan, were heard.

During the meeting, representatives of agricultural entities also shared their opinions. Director of Rodina Agrofirma LLP Ivan Sauer, Director of Vishnevskoe LLP Pavel Rafalskiy informed about the work of farms. The issues raised by the meeting participants to ensure irrigation were commented on by the Vice Minister Yerlan Nysanbayev.

Summing up the discussion, Prime Minister Askar Mamin noted that preparations for the spring sowing are underway, and it has already begun in the southern regions. In this regard, akimats of the regions are instructed to ensure the sowing of crops in compliance with the optimal agrotechnical terms. Akims of Akmola, Aktobe, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions should pay special attention to ensuring the sowing in the areas of problem agroholdings.

“It is necessary to continue diversifying the acreage of demanded crops,” said Askar Mamin, noting that “ensuring the domestic market with affordable crop production, loading processing plants and strengthening the fodder base for livestock breeding directly depends on this.”

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Ministry of Energy, to keep the issues of shipment of diesel fuel from oil refineries to the permanent control, stressing that "there should not be any failures."
