The 20th anniversary of Astana: Aktobe – Astana caravan to pass through all capitals of Soviet and independent Kazakhstan

Republican Youth Festival "Khan Qoryq" of the Kazakhstan National Geographic Society QazaqGeography, timed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan is taking place from 25 to 29 June in Aktobe.

This is a youth project, which is held annually for students and youth from all regions of Kazakhstan. In the past years, the festival was held in the historic surroundings of Ulytau, the high-mountain gorges of Sairam sous and the picturesque tracts of Bayanaul region.

QazaqGeography, created in October 2013, operates in five priority areas: geography, climate; environment, natural resources; biodiversity; tourism, travel, local history; historical and cultural heritage, ethnography. There are 11 representative offices in the following regions: Almaty, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangystau, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan regions.

This year the event is held as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. So, a caravan started in Aktobe will visit all the capitals of Soviet and independent Kazakhstan: Orenburg, Kyzylorda, Almaty and complete the journey in Astana. It is planned that more than 120 participants from 14 universities of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan will come to the festival.

The opening ceremony of the festival was attended by Deputy Akim of Aktobe Region Y. Nurgaliyev and Head of the Khan Qoryq festival T. Dautbayeva.

"On the land of Aktobe there are 11 objects of cultural heritage, included in the list of sacred places of the Republic. I am sure that the participants will be interested in visiting the most beautiful places of our region," Nurgaliyev said.

The representative of QazaqGeography T. Dautbayeva, in her turn, marked the growing popularity of the Khan Qoryq festival.

"Every year the festival attracts students and young people from different parts of Kazakhstan and the near abroad. We are proud that we managed to create a festival that for many participants becomes one of the brightest memories of the summer," she added.

The festival is divided into scientific, entertainment and excursion parts. June 25 at the Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University, a scientific and practical student conference and a competition of reports on the topics "Climate Change" and "Water Resources" were held. The conference is supported by the projects of the United Nations Development Program "Support to Kazakhstan for the Transition to a Green Economy Model" and "Development of the National Communication under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Biennial Report."

The following days, the participants are invited to visit the Aliya museum, the mausoleum of Abat-Baytak, the memorial complex of Kobylandy batyr, archaeological monuments and the Aktobe reservoir; to participate in the competitions on paintball, shooting and volleyball; sports games, fireworks, gala concerts and many other activities.
