Alikhan Smailov: New Rural Development Concept to unlock their economic potential

Draft Sectoral Concepts and Comprehensive Socio-Economic Development Plan for settlements adjacent to Astana were considered at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov said that the Comprehensive Socio-Economic Development Plan for settlements adjacent to Astana till 2025 includes construction of schools, kindergartens, roads, gas, heat, electricity and water supply networks, industrial development as well as increased coverage of citizens with sports and medical services, etc.

The Prime Minister supported the presented draft of the Comprehensive Plan, given the approval of the Republican Budgetary Commission.

Presenting the draft Concept of Rural Development of Kazakhstan for 2023-2027, the Minister of National Economy said that within its framework, steps are envisaged to upgrade the social and engineering infrastructure (schools, hospitals, Internet, water reservoirs, etc.) in rural areas, increase the income of rural residents through entrepreneurship, development of private farms and co-operatives, etc.

The concept is being developed in line with the relevant decree and the pre-election program of the Head of State to improve the efficiency of approaches to the development of rural areas, improve the quality of life and create a comfortable living environment in rural areas.

The participants of the meeting also considered draft concepts of development of the fuel and energy sector of the country until 2026 and of the electricity sector until 2032.

The Prime Minister ordered to improve the concepts taking into account the suggestions and comments voiced.
