Issues of cooperation in the aviation sector and development of transport and logistics potential of Kazakhstan discussed by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov and CEO of TAV Airports Holding Serkan Kaptan.

Alikhan Smailov said that Turkey is one of the priority trade, economic and investment partners of Kazakhstan, including in the transport sector.

"We pay great attention to improving the transport and logistics potential of the country. Today, the Government faces the task of strengthening Kazakhstan's role as a reliable continental transit hub," he said. 

The Prime Minister noted the great importance of participation of TAV Airports Holding in implementation of a large infrastructure project on construction of a new international terminal in Almaty.

"The airport is one of the largest in Central Asia and is of strategic importance. We expect that construction of a new terminal will significantly increase the passenger traffic, expand the geography of flights, provide residents and guests of the megalopolis with a high level of comfort," the Prime Minister stressed. 

In turn Serkan Kaptan told about current activities of the company in Kazakhstan and current production issues, as well as outlined plans for participation in other projects in the country. 

"Almaty Airport is one of the most important projects for us because it is located in the heart of Central Asia and plays an important role both for the city and for the whole of Kazakhstan. That is why we strive to develop it as soon as possible. We hope the new terminal will already be operational next year," he said.

By results of meeting the readiness to strengthen the further effective cooperation was confirmed.

For reference: TAV Airports Holding is a global airport operator, established in 1997 for the expansion and modernization of Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. To date, the company operates 15 airports in 8 countries, which in 2022 served 78 million passengers.
