Kazakhstan medical institutions to be provided with freedom in choosing suppliers of information systems

Measures of antimonopoly response in the market of medical information services were discussed at the meeting of the Commission for Demonopolization of the Economy, chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

Thus, mechanisms for providing polyclinics and other medical organizations more freedom in choosing suppliers of information systems were considered. This includes the elimination of technical opportunities for market dominance of any one company. Today, medical institutions are restricted in their choice, as private companies have the right to refuse to provide them with databases that they have already developed, thus forcing hospitals to conclude contracts with the same suppliers.

However, it was noted that currently the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Ministry of Healthcare continue to work on the creation of the state platform eHealth, which is planned to form a single database of patients with the necessary medical information.
