Meeting of the Expert Council on Competitiveness took place July 20 in Ukimet Uyi with the participation of the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

At the meeting, the issues of tourism development in Kazakhstan were discussed as one of the key factors for increasing the country's competitiveness.

General Director of Globalink Logistics Group Sidik Khan, President of Masterconcept Consulting GmbH Gernot Leitner and President of Alina Group Yerlik Balkfanbayev presented the participants of the meeting the development project for Zailiysky Alatau skiing tourist cluster, an analysis of the current situation on tourism development and made its proposals on the realization of Kazakhstan's opportunities in this area.

Vice Minister of Culture and Sports Yerlan Kozhagapanov noted that currently, on behalf of the Head of State, the Government is working on a draft state program for the development of tourism and the participation of experts in this process is very important for developers. In the Program it is planned to resolve infrastructure and marketing issues, provide measures of state support and security for tourists. The implementation of projects is expected through the public-private partnership mechanism.

According to the members of the Expert Council, the country's potential is high enough for development as a tourist destination for all four seasons of the year. Natural and climatic conditions allow developing both beach and ski holidays. For different categories of tourists there are hot sun, sand and lakes, the Caspian Sea, as well as snow, skiing and mountain entertainment, music, movies and festivals, a variety of nature, steppes, ecotourism, inexpensive domestic tourism, wellness centers, the opportunity to explore the rich culture and heritage.

Also, General Director of the Centras Group E. Abdrazakov, Chairman of the Board of JSC Resmi Group of Companies K. Mazhibayev, Chairman of the board of CentrAsia Group A. Kudaibergen, President of Arman Holding S. Bissekeyev and others took part in the discussion at the meeting.
