Today in Ukimet Uyi, the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev held a meeting with the US Acting Assistant Secretary of State, Alice Wells.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation in various spheres of trade and economic development of the countries were discussed. In particular, the areas of cooperation in the fuel and energy, legal, financial, tax and other spheres, as well as in attracting investments and the latest technologies of leading American companies into the economy of Kazakhstan were considered.
For reference: The volume of trade between Kazakhstan and the US for January-September of 2017 amounted to $1,248.5 million, which is 5% higher than for the same period in 2016 ($1,188.7 million).
Kazakhstan's exports to the United States amounted to $304.1 million. Imports from the United States to Kazakhstan totaled $944.4 million, an increase of 6.8% ($884.1 million) by the same period of 2016.
According to the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the structure of gross inflow of direct foreign investments since 2005, the United States accounts for about $27 billion or more than 12% of the total $223 billion.
The US is the second largest investor in Kazakhstan ($2.2 billion) after the Netherlands ($ 5.7 billion).
In Kazakhstan, there are about 500 companies with the US capital participation, of which 443 are small, 23 — medium, and 30 — large. 141 companies are joint ventures, 41 companies are engaged in the production of goods and 37 companies export products to other countries.
