Bakytzhan Sagintayev holds a meeting with heads of scientific medical centers

Today in Ukimet Uyi Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the directors of the leading scientific medical centers of the country.

During the meeting, the main directions of development of medical science in the republic were discussed. In particular, the advantages of personalized medicine in oncology, the integration of education, science and clinical practice, as well as the prospects for biomedical research in Kazakhstan were considered.

Minister of Healthcare Y. Birtanov, Chairman of the Board of the National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Center Yu. Pya, Chairman of the Board of the National Scientific Center of Surgery named after A.N. Syzganov, B. Baymakhanov, Director of the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology D. Kaidarova, Rector of the State Medical University of Semey Y. Zhunussov made presentations on the current situation, clinical trials and new approaches to solving the problems facing medicine in Kazakhstan.

Currently, the health research infrastructure is represented by 22 research organizations (16 research centers, 6 research institutes), 6 medical universities, 2 postgraduate organizations and 2 faculties in multi-profile universities (IKTU named after Kh. Yassaui, KazNU named after Al-Farabi).

2 scientific molecular-genetic laboratories work on the basis of the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov and Karaganda State Medical University.

In 2016, the protocol of the Higher Scientific and Technical Commission under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the priority of science "The Science of Life and Health". For 2017-2019, within the framework of this national priority, the Ministry has identified industry priorities.

To date, more than 260 scientific and technical programs and projects are being implemented in medical science and education organizations, including with the participation and support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, UNODS, UNFPA, UNICEF, CDC, the European Union, within the framework of Tempus programs, etc.
