Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructs to keep flood situation under special control

Today at the meeting of the Government, the flood situation in the East Kazakhstan region was considered outside the agenda.

Akim of the East Kazakhstan region, Danial Akhmetov, made a report on the measures taken. As a result of unfavorable weather conditions, 230 residential houses remain flooded in the East Kazakhstan region.

According to the information of the regional akimat, 1526 people were evacuated from the flooded houses. Workers of the Red Crescent Foundation provided material assistance to 471 people for the amount of 14 million tenge.

In the period from March 7 to 25, 17 overflows and 2 erosions of highways and culverts occurred in the region. Currently 2 erosions and 14 overflows have been eliminated, 3 overflows are under control.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Zh. Suleimenov, and Minister of Energy, K. Bozumbayev, also reported on anti-flood measures and hydrometeorological forecasts.

Summing up the consideration of the issue, the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed akims of the regions, Astana and Almaty cities to keep the flood situation under control and provide all necessary assistance to the affected people.
