Education and health development continues to be focused on by Kazakhstan Government

Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov spoke about the development of education, healthcare and modernization of social infrastructure in the country.

In his speech at the enlarged Government session, Alikhan Smailov said that since the beginning of this year 325 kindergartens for 34,000 places were opened in the republic, as a result, coverage of children from 3 to 6 years old by pre-school education reached 98%.

This year 201 schools for 106,000 schoolchildren were opened. More than 400 schools of the new format for 842 thousand pupils are to be opened within the new national project "Comfortable School" until 2026.

The Prime Minister added that at present there were 410 colleges sponsored by about 500 companies. In general, by 2025 100% of young people who want to get free education in TPE in demanded specialties will be covered.

In terms of healthcare, the new Concept of Development of the sphere till 2026 was adopted, the National project "Modernisation of rural healthcare" was approved, a centralized mechanism for purchasing medical equipment was introduced and the new law "On biological safety" was passed.

Alikhan Smailov underlined that total mortality decreased by 28% and maternal mortality by 3.5 times compared to the same period of the previous year (11 months).

In addition, he said the implementation of a three-year comprehensive plan to combat cancer will start next year.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the development of the scientific field. A five-year national concept has been approved in this respect. In general, this year salaries of scientists have been doubled, more than 1,000 grants have been allocated to support and encourage young scientists, more than 400 scientists have been sent for training to international scientific centers.

Branches of three leading foreign research universities have also been opened in the country. The opening of 2 more branches is being considered.

Alikhan Smailov added that a draft law "On Science and Technological Policy" will be developed next year to provide additional support to the sphere.
