Implementation of Comprehensive Plan for Development of West Kazakhstan Region to ensure GRP growth by 30% in 4 years

At the government session chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, comprehensive plans for the socio-economic development of the western regions were considered. Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Gali Iskaliyev reported on the plan for the development of the region.

The Comprehensive Plan for the Socio-Economic Development of the region includes 116 measures, the implementation of which will require about 2.6 trillion tenge.

Almost 80% of these costs are expected to come from private businesses and through the PPP mechanism. To attract such a significant amount of investment, state support is required, which is indicated in the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Region.

“In addition to direct budget investments, these are such important issues for the region as providing the region with commercial gas. At this time, many of our potential investment projects are not being implemented due to the refusal to obtain technical conditions for gas supply, although the West Kazakhstan region is the largest supplier of marketable gas to Kazakhstan,” Iskaliyev said.

Other important issues include the repair of power grids and roads, which are the longest among the western regions of Kazakhstan.

“Reconstruction of heat supply networks, water supply, sewerage treatment facilities in Uralsk and Aksay will help stabilize the operation of vital facilities in these cities. Now you know that there are many accidents on the old infrastructure networks of these cities,” Iskaliyev noted.

In the housing sector, it is planned to commission 3 million square meters of new housing.

- in the districts of the region, it is planned to build and reconstruct water supply facilities, which will provide water to 100% of the rural population by the end of 2025;

- an increase in the volume of support for agriculture will allow the development of beef cattle breeding in the region, which currently provides several regions of Kazakhstan with high-quality meat;

- in the social sphere, it is planned to build a polyclinic for 250 visits per shift, a cardiological center building, 42 modular medical facilities in villages, 74 schools, a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities for 150 places, 5 sports and recreation complexes.

In general, the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan should ensure a 30% increase in GRP over 4 years, the creation of 38 thousand new jobs, and the solution of many social and everyday problems of the region's residents.
