At a press conference in the Government, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance Alikhan Smailov said how the renaming of the capital will affect the country's budget.
Responding to journalists' questions, Alikhan Smailov assured that in connection with the renaming of the capital of Kazakhstan to the city of Nur-Sultan, no amendments will be required to the regulatory legal acts on the allocation of additional funds. Everything will be done within the current budget.
“Recently, a law was passed to rename our capital to the city of Nur-Sultan, in this regard, there is no additional money from the republican or local budget. As for the central state bodies, to replace signs in those buildings that are located in the city, funds will be required, but they can be fully financed within the framework of current funding, that is, as part of the annual maintenance of state bodies,” said the minister.
No significant costs are expected for blanks production either.
“It is necessary to take into account that government agencies have switched to electronic document circulation, therefore, no significant expenses for printing forms will be required,” he noted.
As for signs, signs of local executive bodies, as Smailov stressed, they will be changed at the expense of local budget funds, taking into account the existing overfulfilment.
“I spoke yesterday with the city akim Bakhyt Sultanov,” Smailov noted and explained that in general, local funds are provided for replacing outdated signs and signs around the city, that is, current expenses, in which akimat plans gradually change these signs, signs, start with the main ones, which are at the entrance to the city, then gradually replace them in other necessary places. In other words, the city authorities do not plan to allocate any additional funds.
