The Head of State meets with Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Galimkair Mutanov

During the meeting, issues of development of the university's scientific potential and the training of personnel in accordance with the priority areas of the Address "New Opportunities Under the Fourth Industrial Revolution" were discussed. This was reported by the press service of Akorda.

The Head of State, noting the results of the university's work, focused on the role of higher education institutions in the training of young professionals adapted to the conditions of global economic and technological changes.

"For a long time you have been heading one of the largest and most important universities in the country. People come here to study from abroad. Among universities in Kazakhstan, the university has a high rating," the President of Kazakhstan said.

Galimkair Mutanov reported to Nursultan Nazarbayev about the results of the transformation of the university and the adaptation of the educational process to modern requirements.

"Our main goal is to transform the university into a world-class research university. This includes not only the training of leading specialists, but also the development of science and innovation. In general, universities should be the drivers of an innovative economy," the rector of Al-Farabi KazNU said.

G. Mutanov presented to the Head of State the information on the implementation of projects in the field of IT and new technologies, and also talked about the process of establishing interuniversity cooperation within the framework of the IT technology park created on the basis of the university. According to the rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, today more than 60% of university students study natural sciences.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan gave a number of specific instructions.
