In October the Head of State made the Address “Growing Welfare of Kazakh Citizens: Increase in Incomes and Quality of Life,” in which the Government was instructed to raise the minimum wage by 1.5 times from January 1, 2019. At the same time, many entrepreneurs also supported this initiative and decided to increase the salaries for employees in their enterprises.
Since October 2018, employees of the plant in the Karaganda region of Mutlu Export LLP have been raised wages by 34%.
As the Director of Mutlu Export LLP Dos-Mukasan Taukebayev said, today the salary of employees is 120,000 tenge.
“We supported the order of the Head of State to increase salaries and the subsistence level of our employees. Mutlu Group of Companies increased wages by 34% to technical staff and plant employees. That is, if earlier our employees received a salary of 90,000 tenge, then since October they have received 120,000 tenge,” said Taukebayev.
In general, in the Karaganda region as of October 1, 2018, there are 83,249 small and medium-sized businesses. The volume of their products in January–June 2018 increased by 21.6% over the same period in 2017 and amounted to 507.4 billion tenge. The number of people employed in business as of July 1, 2018, reached 231,195 or 105.3% of the data for the seven months 2017. Thus, the support of the President’s Address by the business community of the country will have a positive effect on the socio-economic development of the region.
It should be noted that the decision of the President to raise the minimum wage will directly affect the 1.3 million people who work in all sectors in enterprises of various forms of ownership. In addition, the new minimum wage should be a catalyst for the growth of wages in general across the economy.
We recall earlier in the course of the working visits of Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev to the regions of the country on the implementation of the President’s Address, a number of large companies announced their intention to increase the salaries of their employees. The enterprise of the East Kazakhstan region, the construction company Asia LLP, from January 1, 2019, increases the minimum wage to employees by 50%. Bakyrchik Mining Enterprise LLP is also considering the increasing employee salaries. In the Almaty region, the decision to increase the minimum wage to employees was announced by Almaty Paint LLP, Abdi Ibrahim Global Farm LLP, Zharkent Starch Factory.
