Kazakhstan’s TVE Classifier replenished with 28 new specialties—MES RK

Today, during a press conference following the meeting of the Government, Vice Minister of Education and Science, Askhat Aimagambetov told how the classifier of the occupations of technical and vocational education (TVE) has changed in the light of economic transformations in the country and the world.

According to Askhat Aimagambetov, in 2017, taking into account the proposals of employers, 28 new specialties and 130 qualifications were included in the classifier of the specialties of the TVE.

At the same time, the classifier was replenished with non-specific specialties related to the Third Industrial Revolution, robotization, automation. For example, such a profession as an industrial electronics engineer have emerged.

“We did not just create a new specialty, but also prescribed the appropriate program, plan for it, developed textbooks and teaching aids, and trained about five thousand teachers. I can say with certainty that we have completed this work at 100%,” the vice minister noted.

In addition, A. Aimagambetov noted that within the framework of the new program "Free Vocational Education for All", Kazakhstanis can receive the first profession for free. Another innovation—if previously, studying for 2 years and 10 months, students received only one qualification, now it is possible to obtain three qualifications at once.
