Kazakhstan is developing investment cooperation with the United States through AIFC platform

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held talks with the Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation Adam Boehler.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of investment cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, logistics, infrastructure, as well as finance and technology. At the same time, the need for priority implementation of projects and initiatives aimed at developing the private sector of the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan was emphasized.

Following the negotiations, an agreement on investment cooperation was signed between the Astana International Financial Center Administration and the US International Development Finance Corporation.

The document provides for the implementation of joint investment projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan through the AIFC platform for up to $1 billion.

The International Development Finance Corporation is the United States development institution responsible for providing and facilitating financing of private projects abroad. DFC was formed on Dec. 20, 2019, through the merger of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation with the Development Credit Office of the United States Agency for International Development.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, Chair of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan - AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi participated in the negotiations, representing the Kazakh side, from the American side - US Ambassador to Kazakhstan William Moser, Advisor to the Chief Executive Director DFC Caleb McCurry, DFC Managing Director Allison Minor.
