Plans to launch new power generating facilities discussed by Government

Topical issues of development of Kazakhstan's energy sector were discussed at the meeting attended by heads of the Ministry of Energy, Samruk Kazyna Fund and KazMunayGas National Company chaired by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.

Thus, the plans to attract major international investors, launch of new power-generating facilities (heat and electricity), development of renewable energy sources and modernization of the engineering infrastructure were discussed.

The meeting also considered measures to provide the domestic market with fuels and lubricants. Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov noted that in the first quarter the production of gasoline, diesel fuel and liquefied gas exceeded the approved plan of the Ministry of Energy. Particularly, reserves of diesel fuel from Jan. 1 till March 1 increased from 241 to 326 thousand tons. At present, fuel and lubricants are sent as a priority to agricultural producers for sowing, and then to gas stations and socially important enterprises.

At the same time, according to him, in some regions there are disruptions in the availability of fuel due to excessive consumption. In this regard, the Ministry of Energy is taking measures to replenish the necessary volumes.

In addition, they discussed topical issues of development of the gas industry, taking into account the balance of fuel production and consumption in the medium and long term.
