With support of Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 40 freight locomotives exported to Azerbaijan

Today, the 40th freight locomotive was exported from the Alstom plant with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In October 2021, Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov and Alstom President for Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia Andrew DeLeone signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.

In 2014, Alstom signed a contract for the supply of 50 electric locomotives worth EUR 288 million, including 40 Prima T8 AZ8A heavy haul locomotives, which are manufactured in Nur-Sultan.

The Prima T8 locomotive is one of the most powerful electric locomotives in the world and is driving the development of regional rail traffic. In addition to electric locomotives, rails are also supplied to Azerbaijan.

Kazakhstan acts as an important transport hub linking Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Russia through the new Silk Road. Kazakhstan's railway network, with some 21,000 km, is the third largest network in the world and represents a significant market for maintenance work. At the same time, mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in 2021 amounted to $332.2 million, which is 3 times higher compared to 2020.

In general, exports from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan in 2021 increased 3.4 times and amounted to $287.9 ​​million. Imports to Kazakhstan from Azerbaijan in 2021 increased by 77.3% and amounted to $44.4 million.

To actively promote the export of processed of Goods The Ministry of Trade and Integration provides all-round support to Kazakhstani manufacturers through the export acceleration program, launching on the platform on Alibaba, trade and economic missions, and also provides full consulting and analytical support.

In 2022, as part of the export acceleration program, Kazakh manufacturers and service providers are expected to enter the Azerbaijani market. This tool will further increase the volume of exports, as well as bring new Kazakh goods to Azerbaijan.

For reference: The Export Acceleration Program was launched on behalf of the Head of State in 2020 and is aimed at accelerated promotion of goods and services with the greatest export potential. At the end of 2021, 130 new players entered foreign markets as part of the Export Acceleration program.
