Ministry of Ecology needs to speed up implementation of digital technologies and automated RMSs in water sector — Alikhan Smailov

The regular meeting of the Water Council of Kazakhstan was held in the Government under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

The participants considered issues of improving efficiency of the authorized body in the field of use and protection of water resources, as well as basin inspections, training of relevant specialists and strengthening water diplomacy in general.

In addition, plans for establishing a Consortium of leading scientific and educational organizations in the field of water resources were considered. In particular, it was noted that the work of this research center will combine efforts of all relevant institutions to develop sectoral development programs.

Alikhan Smailov underlined that the Ministry of Ecology needs to activate the introduction of digital technologies and automated risk management systems (ARMS) in the water sector. This will improve the efficiency of monitoring and the work of relevant specialists and help use water resources more rationally.

In conclusion, Prime Minister instructed the authorized state agencies to work out a program of hydrogeological research development, to prepare proposals for automation of groundwater monitoring and introduction of other geo-information technologies.
