At the press conference in the Government’s press center, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance Alikhan Smailov spoke about the implementation of the President’s instructions to move the wage increases to low-paid public sector employees from July 1 to June 1, 2019.
First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance Alikhan Smailov said that the move of wage increases to low-paid public sector employees would require an additional 37.8 billion tenge.
“At the next congress of the Nur Otan party, an order was given to increase the wages of low-paid public sector employees to 30% as a whole from July 1, 2019, and to lower-level government workers at the district and regional levels by an average of 25%, and then the corresponding amount of funding in the amount of 169.7 billion tenge was laid in the draft national budget for 2019. These funds cover half a million people. Recently, the order of the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was announced that it is necessary to move the wage increase schedule from July 1 to June 1, that is, one month earlier, and in this connection it is planned to spend 37.8 billion tenge in addition for these purposes,” explained Alikhan Smailov.
According to him, the recipients remain the same: these are one and a half million people of different professions who have low incomes.
“Relevant proposals to change the volume of expenditures are now sent for approval to the Head of State, after which they will be sent to Parliament in the coming days,” said the minister.
