Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov holds talks with Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held bilateral negotiations with Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov as part of a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

The parties discussed a number of topical issues of bilateral relations in the field of trade, economic and investment cooperation, industrial and fuel and energy complex, ecology, and education.

As part of increasing the volume of bilateral trade, the parties exchanged views on expanding the range of agricultural products supplied. In addition, the implementation of the issue of creating a joint industrial trade and logistics complex has begun.

“Kyrgyzstan is an important trade partner of Kazakhstan in the Central Asian region. I would like to note the restoration of the positive dynamics of mutual trade. At the end of 2021, there is an increase in trade by about 15%,” Alikhan Smailov said during the talks.

Within the framework of cooperation in the automotive industry, the Kyrgyz side is considering the issue of purchasing and leasing vehicles. Technical issues are currently being worked out.

In terms of water-transboundary and energy cooperation, the parties settled the issue of transboundary river flows, as a result of which it was possible to neutralize the possible negative consequences of low water in the basins of the Syrdarya, Shu and Talas rivers during the growing season for both states.

In addition, the parties exchanged views on other topical issues and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
