Prime Minister Askar Mamin holds a meeting on further development of the city of Nur-Sultan

Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a meeting on the main development issues of Nur-Sultan.

The execution of the First President – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev’s instructions on the implementation of the Five-Year (2019-2023) Comprehensive Plan for the City’s Development and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s orders on the improvement of the capital were discussed. Attention was focused on solving systemic issues, including increasing housing affordability, building social facilities, developing transport infrastructure, improving the state of main, intra and inner roads, ensuring public safety, lighting streets, squares and other public spaces, improving the quality of municipal services, as well as the development of suburbs.

Akim of the city Bakhyt Sultanov reported on the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and topical issues of the development of Nur-Sultan. In turn, the ministers of healthcare Yelzhan Birtanov, education and science — Kulyash Shamshidinova, agriculture — Saparkhan Omarov, culture and sports — Arystanbek Mukhamediuly, first vice ministers of industry and infrastructure development Kairbek Uskenbayev, finance — Berik Sholpankulov as well as Vice Minister of Energy Magzum Mirzagaliyev reported on the ongoing work in the core areas.

Prime Minister Mamin noted the high status of the capital. In a historically short period of time, a small city has developed to the size of a large metropolis, and it is necessary to ensure the further intensive development of the city of Nur-Sultan. Therefore, the quality of infrastructure, the appearance of the capital, the standard of living of citizens and the comfort of their residence should be priorities in the work of state bodies.

"It is necessary to pay special attention to the development of the city, to ensure daily monitoring and timely action to resolve infrastructure issues," said Mamin.

The government in this direction will provide all support measures. Financing the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and projects in the framework of the new social measures of Elbasy “Aleumettik Qamqorlyq” will be provided in full.

Summing up the meeting, the Head of Government gave a number of specific instructions.

The Akimat of Nur-Sultan, together with interested government agencies, was instructed to take the necessary measures for the quality and timely implementation of the Comprehensive Plan activities, to develop and make specific proposals on the voiced issues of urban planning and investment projects.

Prime Minister Mamin noted that the Astana International Financial Center should become one of the drivers for the development of the economy of Nur-Sultan. The necessary institutional legal base has been created, the appropriate infrastructure for the AIFC activity has been developed.

“The akimat of Nur-Sultan needs to improve the conditions of stay of foreign investors, including ensuring comfortable living, a safe environment and access to social services at the level of advanced international standards,” Mamin said.
