The Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev held meetings with the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Nassir Abdulaziz al-Nasser, and the OSCE Secretary General, Thomas Greminger, the press service of Akorda reports.

The Head of State thanked the guest for participating in the Congress and noted the continued support of Kazakhstan’s initiative by the Alliance of Civilizations.

"As a multi-faith state, Kazakhstan contributes to the development of interfaith dialogue. This coincides with the goals of the organization you represent," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

In turn, Nassir Abdulaziz al-Nasser thanked the Head of State for the opportunity to take part in the forum and stressed Kazakhstan’s special role in developing mutual understanding between cultures in the world.

"This is my third participation in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Before, I have not met with representatives of so many faiths. I highly appreciate the efforts of your country in developing the dialogue among civilizations," the High Representative of the Alliance said.

During the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev awarded Nassir Abdulaziz al-Nasser with Dostyk Order, Degree  II, for his merits in strengthening peace, friendship and cooperation among nations and preserving mutual consent in society.

At the meeting with the OSCE Secretary General, noting the particular significance of the meeting of leaders of world and traditional religions in Astana, the Head of State thanked Thomas Greminger for his participation in the work of the Congress.

“As you remember, Kazakhstan chaired the OSCE in 2010. We held the only summit of this organization in this century, following which an important declaration was adopted,” said the President of Kazakhstan.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of further development of cooperation and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OSCE.

In turn, Greminger emphasized the contribution and role of the President of Kazakhstan in resolving regional conflicts and strengthening peace.
