Camp inspections, transport and infrastructure control: Kazakhstan strengthens measures to ensure children's safety during summer season

At the Government Session, Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov reported on ensuring the safety of children and preventing offenses among minors.

According to the head of the Ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs pays special attention to ensuring the safety of students. He stated that police officers are assigned to schools, where they conduct lessons on safe behavior and legal education, carry out preventive work, and respond to violations. He also emphasized that safety during the Unified National Testing, Last Bell events, and graduation ceremonies will be ensured, and inspections of educational institutions for anti-terrorism protection are ongoing.

The minister announced the launch of the nationwide operational and preventive campaign Attention – Children. As part of this initiative, patrol routes have been moved closer to schools and surrounding areas, oversight at pedestrian crossings and intersections has been strengthened, compliance with child transportation safety rules is being monitored, and roads near schools and leisure facilities are being inspected. It was also noted that in some regions, deficiencies in infrastructure have been identified, such as the absence of traffic lights, road signs, and markings. He emphasized that with the holidays approaching, local authorities must eliminate all deficiencies by the beginning of the school year, that is, by September 1 of the current year.

The minister also stated that the organization of safety in areas of mass recreation for children is under the control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In particular, the ministry is responsible for checking camp personnel, assigning police officers to children’s camps, and escorting organized transportation of children to recreation sites.

Additionally, as part of preventive work, activities such as the operational and preventive campaign Teenager and, during the holidays, Children in the Night City are being carried out. These initiatives are aimed at preventing offenses among minors, working with families in difficult situations, and curbing the presence of children in entertainment venues and on the streets at night, as well as the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco products to minors.
