Roman Sklyar holds web conference with representatives of German business

Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar chaired a video conference with the participation of the leaders of over 50 German companies on April 21, 2020.

The event was attended by ambassadors of the two countries, Managing Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms, Head of the Delegation of the German Economy in Central Asia Hovsep Voskanyan and deputy heads of branch ministries of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Roman Sklyar thanked businessmen for maintaining partnerships, despite the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, expressed confidence in further building up mutually beneficial cooperation and noted the willingness of the Kazakh side to provide full support to investors.

“We keep abreast of all the agreements reached at the level of our President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev and the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Mrs. Angela Merkel, in 2019, as well as during other official visits of the Kazakh delegation to Germany in early 2020,” noted Roman Sklyar in an interview with businessmen.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Almas Aidarov reported on the implementation of 51 joint investment projects worth $3.7 billion.

In turn, representatives of the German business noted the importance of continuing investment and maintaining economic ties with Kazakhstan despite the coronavirus pandemic, and expressed their deep conviction in the completion of joint topical projects on the agenda, taking into account unprecedented measures to support investment projects. The parties remain fully committed to previous agreements and continue to develop investment cooperation.
